It fits naturally into:
- Architecture practices
- Engineering consultancies
- Construction offices
- Surveying teams

- Local authority and education departments
For teams producing A0 plans, A1 drawings, site layouts, and markup sets, the T950 offers the speed and reliability needed for daily workflow printing.
Advanced media handling for mixed workflows
One of the key strengths of the HP DesignJet T950 is its enhanced media flexibility.
It’s designed to support both roll-fed and sheet-fed printing, making it easier to manage different job types in one device.
Key workflow benefits include:
- Integrated A3 tray organiser: Quickly handle smaller sheet-fed output alongside roll media
- Basket stacker: Keeps printed drawings neat and organised during longer runs
- Roll cover included: Helps protect loaded media from dust in busy office environments
- Roll and sheet versatility: Supports technical drawings, posters, presentation boards, and general office output.
These features make the T950 a strong option for offices that need more than a basic plotter.
HP 738 pigment ink for durable professional output
The HP DesignJet T950 uses HP 738 pigment ink cartridges, available in 130ml and 300ml sizes.
Pigment ink offers important advantages for professional technical printing, including:
- Water-resistant prints for site use
- Better durability than dye-based systems
- Crisp detail and reliable colour
- Strong value for regular production printing
This makes the T950 especially suitable for construction drawings, planning documents, marked-up designs, and graphics that need to last longer in working environments.
Easy printing and connected workflow tools
The T950 is built for simple day-to-day operation.
It supports a modern connected workflow with tools that help teams print faster and with less effort.
Key features include:
- HP Click for simple PDF job submission
- HP Smart App for remote monitoring and printing
- Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Gigabit Ethernet, and USB connectivity
- Fast onboard processing for complex technical files
These tools help reduce bottlenecks and improve productivity across design and technical departments.
What’s the difference between the HP DesignJet T950 and the T850?
Both printers share the same core print engine and use the same HP 738 pigment ink system, so print quality and base performance are very similar.
The T950 adds several practical and aesthetic upgrades, including:

- Integrated A3 tray organiser
- Rigid basket stacker for tidier output
- USB connectivity
- Refined cool white styling
If your business handles mixed-format printing or wants a more complete office-ready setup, the T950 is the more capable choice.
Sustainability and responsible design
The HP DesignJet T950 has been designed with sustainability in mind.
It’s ENERGY STAR certified and EPEAT registered, meaning it helps reduce energy consumption in daily use.
The printer also includes recycled materials in its construction and uses fibre-based packaging to reduce environmental impact.
For organisations looking to improve procurement standards, the T950 supports a more responsible print environment without compromising output quality.
Security for professional environments
The T950 includes HP Wolf Essential Security as standard. This helps protect the printer and connected network against unauthorised access and cyber threats.
For architects, engineers, public sector teams, and corporate offices, this adds reassurance when printing sensitive project information.
