Things to know
- Short to medium term outdoor use. IJM642 is suited to short to medium term outdoor use, based on a Central Europe climate. Actual outdoor life depends on substrate preparation and exposure conditions, and air pollution can affect outdoor performance.
- Flat surfaces. This is a monomeric film with excellent application on flat surfaces. It can be applied to a large number of flat and smooth surfaces.
- Cold lamination only. Use pressure-sensitive laminates only, and do not use warm or hot lamination. IJM642 can be used outdoors without lamination, but lamination is recommended if the print is subject to mechanical abrasion. Cold lamination protects against UV exposure and improves contrast and colour brilliance, and laminating can prolong outdoor performance.
- Printing conditions. For best results, print at 15–25°C and 35–65% RH, and refer to your printer specifications. Handle with cotton gloves and keep the film clear of grease, oil, silicone and dirt. Calibrate the printer and make a test print. Canon media profiles include recommended settings. An external drying unit is recommended for high-speed production.
- Application. Apply to smooth, flat, dirt- and grease-free surfaces, and do not use on freshly lacquered surfaces. Pretest on unknown surfaces. The minimum application temperature is 10°C, and the application temperature range is -20°C to +70°C.
- Storage. Shelf life is 2 years at 23°C and 50% RH, in the original boxes. Repack opened rolls when not in use.
- Removal. Remove at 15–25°C. Heating the surface of the film with a hot air gun eases removal. Glue residue can be removed with soapy water or petrol.
- No MSDS required. No Material Safety Data Sheet is required for this film.
